British Superbike Champion Tarran Mackenzie breaks ankle in a training accident

The 2021 British Superbike champion Tarran Mackenzie has had a rough start to 2022 and his title defence, after falling from his R1 at the Cartagena Circuit, Spain, on Tuesday last week. Suffering a fracture at the base of the right Tibia and a dislocated left shoulder, Tarran underwent surgery on Wednesday, by renowned Dr Xavier Mir, widely regarded as the best trauma doctor in Spain, and the Dr for most if not all motorcycle racers.

Dr Mir and his team from the Dexeus University Hospital, Barcelona placed three surgical screws into Tarran’s Tibia, before being moved to Girona for physio. His team, McAMS Yamaha expect Tarran to make a recovery ready for the BSB test in March ready to defend his crown. Get well soon Tarran!
