No Time To Ride; Triumph Scrambler inspired by 007.

  • by

Ever feel that you could be a secret agent? Killing bad guys, discovering super-secret dossiers, scoring the hottest chicks, drinking cocktails and playing with the latest guns, cars and bikes? Triumph’s got you covered, well, with the bike part at least with the new triumph Scrambler Bond edition.

Triumph’s TFC division brings a refreshing look at the Triumph Scrambler 1200

The scrambler 1200 just became an icon. It’s joined the bond vehicle list along with many Aston Martin, Mustangs, the famous Lotus Espirit.

Based upon the bike rode by James Bond in the upcoming Bond film No Time To Die, the new Scrambler 1200 Bond edition sees a 250 bike limited production run from the British manufacturer.

How do 90’s leathers compare to modern leathers?

Based on the top-spec Scrambler XE, the new Bond edition comes with an arrow exhaust, unique bar risers, limited edition engraving of each model’s number and a special Bond handover pack, complete with features only available to the bond edition like a special start-up sequence. Triumph has pushed the boat out to deliver something special.

Triumph tops the Bond edition off with an oversized tank logo, much like the film’s modified XE, silver knee pads, and a hand-painted trim.

We have seen bond’s skills on a motorcycle before, in the film Skyfall he rides a CRF250 in the opening sequence.

Triumph and Bond, hand in hand

In December 2019 it was officially declared that Triumph would be working with the bond crew for their next feature, No time to die (set to release late 2020, we hope).

We had expected this, as Triumph has had bikes made and produced for other such films as Mission Impossible in the past. For a feature bike in a film, Bond wouldn’t want anything other than a British bike and that just leaves Triumph. Sure we have seen Bond on a Norton before, but after Norton’s recent troubles that would be unlikely.

We know that in the film there will be a modified Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE, with minor differences. Triumph also displayed a Tiger 900, which also features in the film.

A fitting bike for a fitting film

No time to die aims to be the final climactic ending to Daniel Craig’s stint as the legendary James Bond. The Bond Edition Scrambler builds on the Scrambler 1200’s great reputation already.

So what is the actual spec?

The Bond edition sees a 007 themed exhaust board, embroidered seat, and a unique TFT dash with a Bond-themed startup. Wrapped up in a classy matte black finish, including anodized mudguards and rails, finished with black powder coating. Triumph has really produced a classy yet powerful machine, capturing the element of bond himself.

Triumph and Arrow link up again

Deciding to rekindle the relationship with Arrow exhaust to kit the 007 editions out. We have seen this combo before and is a great duet. We do admit they do look very similar to stock and is missing rockets, or machine guns or an oil slick button.

Should I do a Bikesafe Course?

With a starting price of £18,500 for one of the limited 250 units, it is a steep price increase from the standard XE. Much like the TFC models, we think most of these will just be going straight into collections.
